House of Lechon in Tagbilaran City is one of Bohol’s latest hospitality offerings as a popular tourist destination with its beautiful beaches and resorts. Wanting to put this new restaurant on the map for tourists, we imagined the space to express Filipino hospitality-open, inviting and relaxing. The main dining space features a double-height ceiling with a skylit atrium. Using the basket weaving skills of the women in Compostela, Cebu, we created a beautiful ceiling made of PVC. The woven ceiling is safe for restaurants and a great alternative to the natural fibers which tend to deteriorate. Sandstone tiles and pebble washout trims reminded us of the sand on our feet. We worked with Kawayan Collective, a group specializing in bamboo, to create bamboo lattice panels in the facade, acting as both a decorative element and as sun shading. Little details are designed to make you feel like you did not leave the beach.
